Off to School

Well, we shipped Wyatt off to Kindergarten yesterday. Can you believe we have a child in school now?!! Overall though it was a good experience. We weren't sure when the bus was supposed to arrive at our house so we got up extra early to make sure Wyatt was ready on time. Then we kept going out to the road and back to the house to check and see if the bus was coming yet. It was quite chilly out yesterday morning. Finally we heard the bus coming and would you believe it zoomed right past our house! So I hurried and got Wyatt into the car and hauled him into school myself. Which turned out okay cuz then I knew he made it to class on his first day. When we walked into the school there were some aliens to greet the students and some other space creatures around the school. Wyatt didn't quite know what to think about that. Then I walked him down to his room and he waved and said "bye mom." Then at the last minute he turned back around and gave me a big hug. Yeah!!! He still needs me! And I didn't even cry (not yet anyway).

When Wyatt got home I asked him how his day was and he said "it was way fun mom." His favorite part of the day was recess of course and he got to have cake at lunch. What more could you ask for. I want to go back to Kindergarten! He loves his teacher Mrs. Kennington, and he has a couple of friends from preschool in his class. The theme for this year in his class is "cowboys" so he is right in his element. He had a great first day and I'm thinking he should have a pretty good year in school. At the end of the day Wyatt was more than ready for bed. He had a big day.

This morning we were able to catch the bus at home. Then out of nowhere the tears came tumbling down as I walked back to the house after putting Wyatt on the bus. I didn't expect that. But I guess I'm not the first one to cry as we send our kids off to school. I hear its quite normal so that makes me feel better.

Now we are preparing for Labor Day weekend. We can't wait to go camping and see everybody and I am so ready to get away from the daily grind! See you out there!

Camping

This summer seems to be going by way too fast so we have been trying to cram in as many camping trips as we can before school starts up. We had a blast up Greys River with the family and this past weekend we went out to Lanes Creek for some more R&R. It was a good time, but the mosquitos and flies were terrible. We'll have to restock our repellent supply for next time.

Jeff and Ashley and their family went with us. Coy wouldn't leave their dog, Tucker, alone. He loves dogs for some reason. Must get that from his dad.
On Friday Coy fell out of the camp trailer and skinned his face up on the steps. It was one of those things I knew was going to happen sooner or later. But he still had a smile on his face. Not even a week later his scabs came off and you wouldn't know anything had happened.
Poor Tucker getting malled to death again. Good thing he's a pretty easy going dog now.
Sunday we tried to get the kids together for a picture, but they weren't having much of it. Oh well, we tried. Overall, it was a good weekend and Wyatt, Mckenzie, Dawson and Kiersten got the fort all whipped into shape. We can't wait to go camping again for Labor Day!

What a year for Wyatt!

Wyatt seems like he has just grown up all of a sudden this year. He finished preschool in May and not long after he learned how to ride his bike without training wheels. We were quite proud of him. He has also taken to driving the four wheeler without help thanks to David. I guess it's good to teach them young and make sure they know the rules early on. Wyatt also got his first real compound bow this summer. He is quite a good shot. You should have seen the look on his face when Dave pulled it out of the box. It was priceless. Now he can't wait to go "shoot some elk."

As the summer comes to a close we will be sending Wyatt off to Kindergarten. I don't know whether to be excited or cry. Where have the years gone? My babies aren't babies anymore!

Wyatt always wants to ride his bike on the road because he can go better. So Dave goes alongside him on the dirt bike. Wyatt has no trouble keeping up.

Wyatt's new bow.

Shooting in the backyard. I think Dave was just as excited as Wyatt.

4th of July Celebrations

We had a good time on the 4th of July this year. It was fun to stay home with our little family and take it easy for a day. We ended up going to the parade in the morning and then we went firework shopping so we would be ready for the evening. Mostly we just stayed home and played in the yard. But the kids were anxious to light the fireworks and just couldn't wait until dark. So we lit some sparklers and smoke bombs and a few other things. It was a good time. That night we found a vacant parking lot near the fair grounds and watched the big firework show from the back of the truck.

This little boy was riding his tricycle at the very end of the parade all by himself. He was peddling so hard trying not to get left too far behind. It was so cute!
